The Frederick Honors Student Council is an organization designed to promote the concerns, interests, and needs of the Frederick Honors College student body. The student council aims to give students a voice in Honors College decision-making, host events to connect students to one another, and communicate Honors-related opportunities to students. Student Council President

Stephanie Derkovitz is a third-year student majoring in biology on the pre-dental track. She is minoring in chemistry and economics, and plans to obtain a conceptual foundations of medicine certificate. In the future, Stephanie is hoping to own a dental practice specializing in patients with sensory sensitivities, making the dentist's office more approachable. She is from Buffalo, New York and is very excited to serve as the 2026-2027 FHC student council president!

Colin Torres is a senior majoring in economics while completing the pre-medical track. Originally from New Jersey, he is actively involved in campus leadership through the Frederick Honors College student council and is passionate about expanding educational and professional opportunities for students. After graduation, Colin plans to pursue a master's program before applying to medical school and building a career in medicine.

Abby Lazarus is a fourth-year student from Houston, Texas. She is pursuing a dual degree in public health and gender, sexuality and women's studies, as well as a minor in chemistry and a certificate in bioethics. Abby plans on pursuing a career as a physician and attending medical school after earning her bachelor’s degree. She is an active member of the Frederick Honors College and is looking forward to serving as the student council vice president of programming for the 2026-2027 academic year!

Mackenzie Norris is a third-year nursing student pursuing a minor in economics and a certificate in global health. Following graduation, she aspires to build a career as a pediatric oncology nurse and obtain a Master of Science in Nursing. As vice president of communications for the 2026-2027 academic year, Mackenzie is excited to foster meaningful connections among the student council, student body, and faculty!

Suzhen Palmer is a rising junior double majoring in global management and marketing. After college, she plans to start her own business and hopes to turn her entrepreneurial vision into a successful career. She is extremely excited to serve as the vice president of finance for the 2026-2027 academic year!

Uzoamaka Amaeze is a rising junior majoring in neuroscience, double minoring in chemistry and theater arts, and pursuing a certificate in the conceptual foundations of medicine on the pre-med track. She hopes to get into medical school and become a neurosurgeon. She is very excited to serve as the director of administration for the Frederick Honors College during the 2026-2027 academic year!
