Schwarzman Scholars

This is a fully-funded, one-year master’s degree and leadership program at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China to prepare future leaders for success in a world where China plays a key global role. The program gives the best and brightest students from around the world the opportunity to develop their leadership skills through a fully funded one-year Master of Global Affairs degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing.

Timeline

Begin Today
  • Research China with your own academic focus and future career in mind.
  • Consider potential recommendation writers.
  • Schedule a series of appointments over the summer with an Office of National Scholarships advisor on Handshake to discuss your application, essay drafts, and letters of recommendation.
  • Update your CV/resume and seek feedback on it.
  • Thoroughly read the Schwarzman Scholars website.
May–August
  • Send recommendation packet to your referees no later than July 15.
  • Include a succinct program description, points in your profile they should address, unofficial transcripts, CV, etc.
  • Order your transcripts from all universities attended, both in the United States and abroad.
  • Meet with an Office of National Scholarships advisor at least three times to review drafts of your application.
Late August
  • CAMPUS DEADLINE - e-mail a near-final draft of your entire application (essays, transcripts, and video) to Lesha.
  • Request that your recommenders share a draft of their letter of recommendation with the Office of National Scholarships advisor with whom you have been working.
Early September
  • Final submission deadline: Early September; submit your finalized application package through the Schwarzman online system by the official deadline, published annually.
  • Save a copy of your finalized application package as a PDF for your own records and send a copy of it to the Office of National Scholarship advisor with whom you have been working.
