Kait Long

Manager of Honors OCC

Kait joined the Frederick Honors College in April 2023 as manager of Honors Outside the Classroom Curriculum (Honors OCC). In this newly created role, she identifies and provides meaningful experiential and community-based opportunities for FHC students. Kait is passionate about connecting students to experiences beyond the classroom that help them grow personally and professionally. As an educator, she is also dedicated to supporting students' overall health and wellness throughout their college experience.

Kait has prior work experience in both secondary and higher education. She began her professional career as an English teacher at Quaker Valley High School, worked as a college counselor at various Pittsburgh independent high schools, and also served as a service learning coordinator where she planned school-wide experiential education activities. Additionally, Kait has held positions in career services at Boston College and Boston University where she helped students secure internships and explore other professional opportunities.

A proud Pittsburgh native, Kait has deep family ties to Pitt athletics and is a loyal Panthers fan. She enjoys reading, word puzzles, corny puns, and spending time with her husband, daughter, and golden retriever. When she's not working, you're most likely to find Kait outside walking, exploring, hiking, talking to her vegetable garden, or cruising around with her daughter on her adult kick scooter.
