Parker joined Pitt Honors in July 2018 as a manager of Honors housing and collaborated with Residence Life, RAs, and faculty and staff to create engaging programming for Pitt Honors students. In Dec. 2021, he was promoted to the inaugural position of assistant director of student engagement. He oversees the Pitt Honors residential community and is in charge of creating signature large-scale social programs for all Honors students—from orientation until the awards/commencement ceremony at the culmination of their academic career! Parker is developing "Class Connections" programming aimed at building community within each admissions cohort. Additionally, he will be advising a new Honors College student council; initiating programs that bring Honors students across all Pitt regional campuses; expanding access to cultural events throughout Pittsburgh for students; and is designing opportunities to enhance students' understanding of a “sense of place” within the wider state of Pennsylvania and the Appalachian region.
Prior to working at Pitt, Parker created programs for Point Park University's Honors Program, including planning national and international trips for students looking to explore outside of their city. He also worked for Penn State as well as managing the programming of an LGBTQ-focused nonprofit in the Pittsburgh area.
When he's not working, Parker enjoys watching drag shows, thrifting, and shopping for records. He also spends a fair amount of time in book stores, breweries and coffee shops.
